(WJHL)— ETSU football reclaimed the Rail for the first time since 2018 on Saturday, defeating SoCon rival Chattanooga 14-3.The Buccaneers improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in SoCon play while snapping a six-game losing streak to the Mocs. ETSU has now won six consecutive conference games dating back to last season."It's been a long time since we've had that rail, and we earned it," senior running back Jason Albritton said. "Last year was tough, like very, very tough. The offense had a scenario where it was fourth-and-one to end the game, and we didn't get it. That had been eating at me for, I don't know, 365 days."Albritton led ETSU's ground game with 95 yards on 21 carries, including a 1-yard touchdown that gave the Bucs a 7-3 lead in the first quarter. Quarterback Mason Mims finished 15 of 25 for 186 yards and connected with TJ Peyton for a 20-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to extend the lead.ETSU's defense turned in its best performance of the season, holding Chattanooga to 183 total yards and just three points — the fewest the Bucs have allowed in a SoCon game since the program returned in 2015.
